John & Lesley McDaniel: Missouri’s Own Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus

For more than three decades, John and Lesley McDaniel have brought the magic of Christmas to life as Missouri’s beloved Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Their journey began in 1993, when John first stepped into the red suit to spread holiday cheer in his own store and at local daycares. In those early years, he relied on a fake beard—but as time passed, his look evolved right along with his role. Today, he sports a full, snowy-white beard that could convince anyone he came straight from the North Pole.

What started as a simple act of holiday joy soon grew into a cherished tradition. The John & Lesley began visiting homes throughout Perryville, Missouri, creating unforgettable memories for families year after year. Their warm, authentic presence quickly made them a seasonal favorite.

Today, John and Lesley live in Jefferson City, Missouri, but their Christmas spirit travels far and wide. They now perform around 30 appearances each year, bringing joy to photo studios, stores, private homes, and community events across the region. Since 2019, they have been honored to appear as Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion—a testament to their professionalism, dedication, and the genuine warmth they bring to every visit.

Their talents have even taken them beyond the Midwest. In 2016, they spent two months on Long Island, New York for an extended holiday photo shoot, sharing their festive charm with families hundreds of miles from home. Their beautifully crafted suits—made in Decatur, Alabama —complete the picture, adding authenticity and elegance to their portrayal.

Together, John and Lesley McDaniel embody the generosity, wonder, and joy of the Christmas season. Whether in Jefferson City, Perryville, or beyond, they continue to remind everyone they meet that the spirit of Santa Claus is alive and well in Missouri.
